Pakistan, Aug. 28 -- Amid soaring petroleum prices and escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has raised serious concerns over the federal government's continued delay in issuing licenses for Electric Vehicle charging stations across the country.
In a conversation with Daily Times, FPCCI Senior Vice President Saqib Fayyaz Magoon questioned the rationale behind withholding EV charging station licenses at a time when Pakistan urgently needs to reduce its dependence on imported fuel and control inflationary pressure.
"If the government issues these licenses immediately, we can reduce petroleum demand by up to 30% even during the ongoing Middle East conflict....
