Pakistan, Aug. 20 -- Authorities tested 491 samples of ghee, edible oil and milk products across Pakistan, finding several items below prescribed quality standards and prompting calls for stronger food monitoring. The findings were presented before the National Price Monitoring Committee.
According to the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research report, 26 ghee samples contained trans fats several times above the permitted limit. Vitamin A was also missing from 46 ghee samples, while some samples showed excessive moisture and unpleasant odour.
The testing further found that 26 packaged milk samples had fat content below the required standard, while eight milk powder samples contained less protein than prescribed. The findi...
