Pakistan, Sept. 21 -- The federal government has introduced a new biometric verification system for pensioners. Pension payments will continue directly through bank accounts.

Under the new system, commercial banks will no longer handle pensioners' biometric verification. The Ministry of Finance has issued new standard operating procedures for digital pension verification and payments.

The National Database and Registration Authority will verify pensioners through a digital life signal. NADRA will send the verification status directly to the Controller General of Accounts and the Military Accountant General.

Commercial banks will now work only as pension payment agents. Banks will not normally collect or store pensioners' biometric data...
