Pakistan, Oct. 12 -- President Asif Ali Zardari has signed a summary approving the imposition of emergency and Governor's Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following approval by the federal cabinet, with the government citing worsening law and order and an increase in terrorist attacks in the province.

The presidential proclamation, issued under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution of Pakistan on the prime minister's advice, has taken immediate effect. A gazette notification has also been issued under Article 232.
