Pakistan, Oct. 1 -- The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Wednesday extended the cutoff date for filing income tax returns for 2026 to Oct 15, hours before the deadline was set to expire by the end of Sept 30.
The notification, seen by Dawn, reads, "The Federal Board of Revenue is pleased to communicate that the date of filing of income tax return for Tax Year 2026, for the persons who are required to file their returns by September 30, 2026, is hereby extended up to October 15th, 2026 in view of the requests from various trade bodies and tax bar associations."
However, earlier, the FBR had refuted a notification circulating in the media claiming that it had extended its deadline to file income tax returns for 2026, terming it "fake".
