Pakistan, Aug. 14 -- Mount Etna, Europe's highest active volcano, is erupting on Sicily, attracting thousands of tourists and residents. The activity is also disrupting roads and air travel around the volcano.
The volcano has been producing lava and ash for seven consecutive days. Experts say the prolonged activity is unusual compared with previous episodes observed at Etna.

Salvo Gambino, director of the Etna Observatory, said gas-rich magma may be rising from greater depths. Lava fountains and flows have been observed across several parts of the volcano.
