Pakistan, Oct. 1 -- An Emirates Airbus A380 flying from Dubai to London Heathrow diverted to Frankfurt on Thursday after a passenger suffered a medical emergency.

Flight EK31 departed Dubai International Airport at 7:30 UTC for its scheduled journey to London. The aircraft was carrying more than 500 passengers and crew.

About six hours into the flight, the crew declared a general emergency while the aircraft was cruising at 40,000 feet over European airspace. The A380 then descended and requested permission to divert to Frankfurt Airport.
