Pakistan, Sept. 24 -- The US Navy has confirmed eight suicide attempts within the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group during its extended deployment. Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao disclosed the figure in a response to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

Cao said the eight attempts occurred across the carrier strike group since the deployment began. The figure includes personnel serving with the carrier's air wing, escorting destroyers and aviation squadrons. No deaths from suicide were reported during the deployment.
