Pakistan, Sept. 8 -- The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved Rs6.6 billion to purchase 30 bulletproof vehicles for the 2027 SCO summit. Pakistan will host the summit in September 2027.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb chaired the ECC meeting on Monday. The Cabinet Division had requested Rs12.6bn for more than 50 bulletproof vehicles. The vehicles will transport heads of state during the international summit. However, the ECC approved funding for only 30 vehicles after reviewing the proposal. It also asked officials to conduct a detailed assessment before requesting additional funds.
