Pakistan, Sept. 4 -- Curry Barker made records with his independent movie, Obsession, this year and he will now be running his first Oscars campaign at just the age of 26. The movie grossed $505 million globally and earned critical and commercial acclaim, being one of its kind in the horror genre.

Now Barker will be running for the nomination for the Best Director category at the Academy Awards.

Cinephiles flocked to social media at the news and wrote, "Deserves the nomination at the very least. Dude made one of the most memorable horror movies in the last two decades on a shoestring budget and helped bring attention to Indie, who is going to be in all our lives for the rest of our lives."
