Pakistan, June 28 -- A powerful cloudburst triggered devastating flash floods in Thore Valley of Diamer district, causing widespread destruction as heavy rainfall swept through mountainous areas. At the same time, rising temperatures accelerated glacier melting across Gilgit-Baltistan, increasing water levels in rivers and streams and raising fears of additional flooding in vulnerable regions.

The floodwaters damaged homes, orchards, hundreds of acres of farmland and both public and private infrastructure across the valley. Moreover, the floods washed away link roads and communication bridges, cutting off several villages, disrupting electricity and water supplies, sweeping away parked vehicles and leaving dozens of families homeless.
