China raises Nanning flood emergencyPublished on: July 6, 2026 11:23 PM
Pakistan, July 6 -- Chinese authorities raised the highest flood emergency alert in Nanning on Monday as Typhoon Maysak brought extremely heavy rainfall to the region. Rising rivers and reservoirs prompted officials to activate the city's top-level flood response. The alert affects nearly nine million residents in the capital of China's Guangxi region.
According to Chinese state media, authorities upgraded Nanning's flood control emergency response from Level III to Level I, the highest warning level. Officials said persistent heavy rainfall significantly increased the risk of flooding across the city. Emergency teams were mobilised to monitor water levels and respond to potential hazards.
