Pakistan, June 20 -- Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz declared a state of emergency on Saturday as nationwide blockades crippled the economy. The move allows broader military deployment to clear roads and restore essential supplies. The decision affects millions of Bolivians facing shortages of food, fuel, and medicine after weeks of unrest.
The emergency decree takes effect immediately and grants the government additional constitutional powers. Under Bolivian law, Paz must notify Congress within 24 hours of issuing the order.
