Pakistan, Aug. 31 -- The Power Division has invited international competitive bids for rehabilitation of the damaged Steam Turbine-16 (ST-16) and allied equipment at Guddu 747 MW Power Plant, a project expected to reduce generation cost by Rs4.19 per unit and unlock an additional 297 MW of generation capacity.

According to a press release issued by the Power Division on Sunday, the rehabilitation would reduce the plant's generation cost from Rs13.87 to Rs9.68 per unit.

Currently, as the Steam Turbine-16 and its associated generator remain out of service following the July 2022 fire, the plant operates in open-cycle mode at roughly 450 MW, ranking it at 11th in the dispatch queue with expensive power. Once restored to full combined-cycle...
