Pakistan, May 1 -- An audit has exposed irregularities in Zakat funds among government employees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, raising serious concerns about the misuse of welfare funds. The report for the fiscal year 2025 revealed that both serving and retired public employees received financial assistance meant for the needy.

According to the audit findings, 419 government employees benefited from the Zakat fund. These included 317 federal employees and 33 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In addition, employees from Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan were also among the recipients.
