ISLAMABAD, Aug. 27 -- Pakistan says Field Marshal Asim Munir's recent Iran visit supported its ongoing de-escalation efforts. The Foreign Office rejected claims that Munir visited Tehran as a US envoy. FO spokesperson Tahir Andrabi called those claims misleading and factually incorrect. He said Munir visited Tehran on August 24 as part of Pakistan's mediation efforts. The visit focused on reducing tensions between Washington and Tehran.

According to Andrabi, the discussions covered regional de-escalation and the military stalemate. The sides also explored options for a negotiated settlement.
