Pakistan, Aug. 1 -- Pakistan's Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem was unable to defend his Commonwealth Games men's javelin title after finishing ninth in the final at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow on Friday.

The 29-year-old, who won gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games with a remarkable throw of 90.18 metres, struggled to find his rhythm during the final. His opening attempt was ruled a foul, putting him under immediate pressure in a highly competitive field.

Nadeem registered his best effort of 77.41 metres on his second throw, briefly moving onto the leaderboard. However, stronger performances from his rivals pushed him down to ninth place by the end of the round.
