Pakistan, Aug. 14 -- Pakistan's 79th Independence Day was celebrated in Ankara with senior Turkish leaders attending the special ceremony. Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz attended the event as the chief guest. Several senior Turkish officials, diplomats, military commanders and members of Pakistan's community also participated. The ceremony took place at Pakistan House in Ankara one day early. The schedule was adjusted because Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party marked its silver jubilee. The large gathering highlighted the strong friendship and close ties between Pakistan and Turkey.
