Pakistan, Sept. 6 -- Anak Krakatau eruption disrupted hundreds of flights in Indonesia on Sunday after volcanic ash reached Jakarta's main airport. Authorities also halted some school activities and fishing trips as ash spread across nearby areas.

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport suspended flight operations until 9:30 a.m. after detecting volcanic ash. Indonesia's Transportation Ministry said the disruption affected 209 flights, including several international services.

Anak Krakatau has remained active since late Friday, sending volcanic ash into the atmosphere. The meteorological reported ash reaching 20,000 feet over Java, while a plume rose to 50,000 feet over Sumatra and parts of Banten.
