AJK police alleges armed protests in regionPublished on: July 29, 2026 7:54 PM
Pakistan, July 29 -- Azad Jammu and Kashmir police have accused protesters of carrying weapons during ongoing demonstrations, saying some participants possess sniper rifles and other arms. Police spokesperson SSP Riaz Mughal claimed the protests involved security threats and rejected claims that they were entirely peaceful.
Addressing a press conference, the AJK police spokesperson said an allegedly banned committee had taken possession of people's identity cards. He questioned how demonstrations could be considered peaceful if participants carried weapons. Police officials said armed groups posed risks to law enforcement personnel.
