Pakistan, Aug. 17 -- I want to start with a confession rather than bury it in a footnote: this article, like several I have written only recently, was drafted with the help of artificial intelligence. I gave the argument, the structure, the examples, and the position. The AI gave me sentences I would not have produced as cleanly or as quickly on my own. I think it is worth being honest about that arrangement, and worth thinking through what it actually means. I suspect that there are quite a few writers who are doing it, but that is not my concern - and my argument is only for me, not others, simply because each of us is driven by different motivations and limitations.
