Pakistan, Aug. 27 -- A US Air Force judge has scheduled the military tribunal trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed for June 2028. Mohammed and three co-defendants will face proceedings over the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Michael Schrama issued the scheduling order on Wednesday. The decision marks another development in a case delayed by lengthy legal disputes. The prosecution has remained stalled for nearly two decades.

The case faced further complications after an appeals court blocked proposed guilty pleas last month. Mohammed and two co-defendants had sought to enter pleas under agreements. Those agreements would have removed the possibility of death sentences.
