Pakistan, Aug. 9 -- The government has approved civil awards for 78 individuals in recognition of their sacrifices, courage and acts of extraordinary bravery in service of the country.

The decision was taken at a special committee meeting on gallantry awards chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad on Saturday.

The awards were approved in various categories for individuals who made significant contributions and demonstrated exceptional courage in the face of adversity.

Speaking at the meeting, Naqvi said it was a national responsibility to recognize and encourage those who had sacrificed their lives for the country and those who had displayed extraordinary bravery in its service.
