Pakistan, May 16 -- Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Mustafa Kamal on Friday informed the Senate that the government was working on a permanent solution to resolve the recurring issue of reserved medical seats for students from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Responding to a question during Question Hour, the minister said the issue had surfaced repeatedly over the years due to the absence of a long-term mechanism.

He said that some 194 seats were allocated during 2017-18 and again in 2018-19, while no seats were granted during 2019-23.

He said 333 seats were later allocated during 2023-24 and the same number was maintained in 2024-25 after the present government assumed responsibility.
