Sri Lanka, Aug. 10 -- Foreign remittances sent home by Sri Lankan migrant workers have crossed the US$5 billion mark for the January-July period of 2026, Central Bank data shows.

Cumulative inflows for the seven-month period stood at US$5,382.4 million, up 21.4 percent from US$4,435.2 million during the same stretch in 2025. In rupee terms, inflows rose 30.3 percent to Rs. 1,724.2 billion from Rs. 1,323.2 billion.

The July 2026 figure alone came in at US$777.6 million, or Rs. 261.3 billion, up from US$697.3 million (Rs. 210.0 billion) in July of the previous year.
