Wasteful spending threatens Vision 2050 development goals
DAR ES SALAAM, June 17 -- AS Tanzania embarks on the first budget under Vision 2050, one message stands out clearly: achieving the countrys ambitious development goals will require more than larger budgets.
It will require greater discipline, stronger accountability and smarter spending. The proposed 2026/27 national budget of 62.33tri/- reflects Tanzanias determination to accelerate development and strengthen economic self-reliance.
However, increasing expenditure alone does not guarantee progress. The real measure of success lies in whether public funds are spent efficiently and deliver tangible benefits to citizens.
