ARUSHA, Oct. 7 -- THE United Nations has backed calls for stronger global cooperation and inclusive governance, saying the theme of the 153rd Assembly of the InterParliamentary Union (IPU) comes at a critical time as the world races to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Speaking on behalf of the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, the UN Country Representative in Tanzania, Susan Namondo said the assemblys theme, “Governance, Inclusion, Trust and Opportunity”, reflected the challenges facing the international community.

“With just over four years remaining until 2030, this years SDG reports remind us how much work still lies ahead,” she said.
