MWANZA, Aug. 19 -- THE Regional Commissioner of Mwanza, Mr Said Mtanda, has handed over the Uhuru Torch to Shinyanga region after completing its relay to all 8 councils from August 10, 2026 in Ukerewe district to yesterday August 17, 2026 in Kwimba district.

Speaking at the handover ceremony held today, August 18, 2026 at the Mwigumbi primary school grounds in Kishapu district, Mtanda said that within those eight days the Uhuru has been relayed a distance of 942. 3 kilometers passing through 51 development projects worth 101.9bn/-
