DODOMA, May 13 -- Tanzanias Ministry of Transport has outlined eight priorities for the 2026/27 financial year aimed at strengthening the countrys transport infrastructure and services, including railways, ports, aviation, and professional training within the sector.

Presenting the ministrys budget in Parliament in Dodoma on May 13, 2026, Transport Minister Makame Mbarawa said the priorities will focus on implementing major development projects and improving transport services across different parts of the country.

Professor Mbarawa stated that key priority areas include continuing the construction and operation of Tanzanias Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), as well as rehabilitation and modernization of the MGR and TAZARA railway networks....
