Dar es Salaam, Aug. 29 -- For a child with a disability or special educational need, the difference between being identified early and being identified years later can shape an entire educational journey. A child who is assessed early can receive appropriate support, assistive devices, specialised teaching and referrals to health or rehabilitation services.

A child whose needs remain unnoticed may enter school without the support required to learn, communicate and participate effectively.
