DODOMA, Aug. 13 -- THE Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Culture and Sports has directed the completion of construction of 64 district VETA colleges and the Songwe Regional VETA College to enable them to start offering skills training tailored to local economic opportunities.

The directive was issued by the committee, chaired by Husna Sekiboko, after receiving and discussing a report from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on the progress of construction of the colleges.

The committee stressed that courses offered at the institutions must reflect the economic activities, opportunities and needs of individual districts to ensure vocational training delivers tangible benefits to local communities.
