DAR ES SALAAM, June 5 -- TANZANIA will need to invest more of its own resources in public health to sustain gains made over the past two decades, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

CDC Tanzania Country Director Dr Mahesh Swaminathan said discussions between Tanzania and the United States are increasingly focused on co-investment and long-term self-reliance.

He said the future of the partnership should be based on stronger bilateral cooperation, scientific exchange and greater domestic financing.

“Tanzania already has excellent scientists, strong doctors and a strong public health infrastructure,” he said.
