Tanzania's food production growth rises to 133% in 2026
TANGA, Oct. 10 -- FOOD production and self-sufficiency levels in Tanzania have continued to improve, with figures showing an increase from 130 per cent in the 2024/25 season to 133 per cent in the 2026/27 season.
Tanga Regional Commissioner, Dr Batilda Buriani, announced the figures while speaking to journalists ahead of the national celebrations of World Food Day, scheduled to take place in Tanga Region on October 16 this year.
Dr Buriani said that despite the significant progress in ensuring adequate food availability, the country continued to face challenges related to poor nutrition and stunting among young children.
