Tanzania rolls out new seed sector plans
DODOMA, May 28 -- Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Mr David Silinde, has launched the National Seed Sector Development Plan (2026–2030) and the National Seed System Investment Plan (2026–2030), aimed at boosting local seed production and reducing dependence on imports.
Speaking during the annual general meeting (AGM) of seed stakeholders in Dodoma on Thursday (May 28, 2026), Mr Silinde urged companies involved in seed production to develop drought-resistant and disease-tolerant seed varieties suitable for different climatic conditions in the country.
