LILONGWE, Malawi, July 27 -- The Tanzania High Commission in Malawi on Thursday commemorated World Kiswahili Language Day 2026 with an event aimed at celebrating the languages role in unity, education, and regional cooperation.

Hosted by Tanzanias High Commissioner to Malawi, Her Excellency Ambassador Agnes Richard Kayola, the commemoration brought together students, lecturers, and dignitaries to reflect on Kiswahili as a unifying language across Africa.

Delivering her keynote speech at the well-attended event, Vice Chancellor of Mzumbe University, Professor Hawa Petro highlighted the wide-ranging opportunities Kiswahili offers current and future generations in education, trade, diplomacy, and regional integration.
