Tanzania lures investment in pharmaceutical industries for health sector, national revenue
NAIROBI, May 13 -- PRIME Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has said Tanzania is prioritizing investment in pharmaceutical manufacturing industries to reduce dependence on imported medicines and strengthen both the health sector and the national economy.
Dr Nchemba made the remarks in Nairobi, Kenya, during a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of the French Development Agency (AFD), Christophe Lecourtier, on the sidelines of the Africa Forward Summit.
He said Tanzania still imports a significant amount of medicines from abroad, prompting the government to focus on investing in local pharmaceutical industries to increase domestic drug production.
