DAR ES SALAAM, Oct. 28 -- THE Energy Minister Dr Juma Homera has signed four oil and gas exploration licences for the Mnazi Bay North, West Songo Songo, Eyasi Wembere and Lindi-Mtwara blocks, in a move aimed at strengthening the role and responsibilities of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) in oil and gas exploration.

The licences were signed during a ceremony held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam. The event was attended by Vice-President Deogratius Ndejembi, Ministry of Energy Permanent Secretary James Mataragio, Ilala District Commissioner Edward Mpogolo and Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and Minerals Chairperson Subira Mgalu.
