TANGA, March 13 -- THE Tanzanian government is underway to construct three new berths with a combined length of 900 metres at Tanga Port, starting with a 300-metre berth, as part of efforts to further improve efficiency and service delivery at the facility.

This was revealed by the Tanga Port Manager, Salehe Mbega, when speaking to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Infrastructure that visited the port for inspection.

While at the port, the Committee commended the government for major infrastructure improvements at Tanga Port, saying the upgrades have significantly boosted efficiency in handling cargo and increased revenue collection.
