NJOMBE, May 1 -- THE Tanzanian government has begun paying arrears of social security contributions, leave allowances, transfer dues and salary arrears as part of ongoing efforts to clear verified workers claims.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan announced this during the Workers Day celebrations held in Njombe today, May 1, 2026.
Addressing thousands of workers, President Samia said the government will continue settling the debts progressively based on ongoing verification and assessment of claims, stressing that not all demands can be paid instantly without proper scrutiny.
