DAR ES SALAAM, March 14 -- TANZANIA and Uganda are exploring the possibility of using national identity cards as official travel documents between the two countries, officials said during the Fifth Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) meeting held in Dar es Salaam yesterday, March 13, 2026.

The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Ayoub Mohammed Mahmoud, participated in the meeting, where representatives from both sides discussed key issues, including diplomatic and political cooperation, security, immigration, and infrastructure development.
