TOKYO, Sept. 25 -- TANZANIA and Japan have agreed to strengthen strategic cooperation in promoting and marketing tourism between the two countries, including efforts to increase the number of tourists travelling between Tanzania and Japan.

The agreement was reached today, September 25, 2026, when Tanzanias Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Ashatu Kijaji, held talks with Japan Tourism Agency Commissioner Norio Kimura on the sidelines of Tourism Expo Japan 2026, currently taking place in Tokyo.

During the talks, Minister Kijaji said Tanzania has a wealth of tourism attractions, including wildlife, forest reserves and historical heritage sites, which, if effectively promoted, could attract more tourists from Japan.
