Tanzania, Indonesia sign audit pact
DAR ES SALAAM, June 20 -- TANZANIA and Indonesia have signed an audit cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening public sector auditing, promoting accountability, and improving management of public resources.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Dar es Salaam by Controller and Auditor General (CAG) Dr Charles Kichere and Indonesias Audit Board (BPK) Chairman Dr Isma Yatun.
Dr Kichere said the agreement will help Tanzania improve audit systems through knowledge exchange and access to Indonesias experience in the sector.
He said the cooperation comes as Tanzania seeks to strengthen its international audit profile, including its bid for the position of External Auditor of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
