DAR ES SALAAM, Sept. 5 -- TANZANIA and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are set to accelerate implementation of strategic joint projects, including the planned Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) link through Burundi and a national fibre-optic cable across Lake Tanganyika.

The commitment was reaffirmed by Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, during a farewell meeting with DRCs Ambassador to Tanzania Jean Pierre Massala, who has completed his tour of duty in the country.

The meeting was held at the Ministrys offices in Dar es Salaam.
