STPU nabs two people allegedly involved in smuggling of 254 livestock to a neighbouring country
ARUSHA, June 25 -- THE Tanzania Police Force, through the Stock Theft Prevention Unit (STPU) in collaboration with the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, has arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the illegal smuggling of 254 livestock to a neighbouring country.
According to a statement issued by STPU Commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Simon Pasua, the suspects were arrested in Olkesumet Village, Sinonik Ward, Longido District in Arusha Region while in possession of the livestock.
He said the seized animals include 70 cattle and 184 goats and sheep, which were being transported in violation of legal procedures.
