Quality standards key to $1 trillion economy goal
DAR ES SALAAM, Aug. 3 -- QUALITY products are central to boosting the competitiveness of Tanzanian exports and achieving the countrys ambition of building a one-trillion US dollar economy by 2050, the government said while launching the Africa Quality Mark (AQM).
Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, Mr Denis Londo said over the weekend that the common certification framework will reduce the time and cost of product inspections at border posts, improve trade efficiency and strengthen implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), creating wider market opportunities for Tanzanian manufacturers.
