DAR ES SALAAM, Sept. 4 -- THE National Environment Management Council (NEMC) is urging Tanzanians to prioritize environmental cleanliness and conservation in their communities to ensure a clean, safe and healthy environment.

Speaking to the media, NEMC Director General Dr Immaculate Semesi said environmental cleanliness should begin at the source by ensuring that waste is not disposed of indiscriminately but is instead separated according to its type, including biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste.

She said the waste should then be placed in designated and appropriate areas for collection, recycling or safe disposal.
