DAR ES SALAAM, April 25 -- THE Arts Council of Tanzania (BASATA) has awarded prizes to the winners of its Youth Painting Competition, an initiative aimed to promote and develop visual arts among Tanzanian youth.
The competition, which was concluded at the University of Dar es Salaams Department of Creative Arts, saw Stanley Innocent Mwinuka emerge as the overall winner, pocketing a 500,000/- cash prize.
Crispine Patrick Mboya secured second place and received 200,000/-, while Kelvin Peter Malonji finished third and awarded 100,000/-.
Speaking during the award ceremony, BASATA Acting Executive Secretary Edward Buganga congratulated all participants for their outstanding creativity displayed in their artworks.
