MWANZA, May 29 -- THE Regional Administrative Secretary for Mwanza, Balandya Elikana, has said that environmental conservation and protection remain a key priority in the regions development plans.

Elikana made the remarks today, May 29, 2026, during discussions with a team of experts from the Vice Presidents Office who visited his office to present a progress report on preparations for the 2026 World Environment Day celebrations in the region.

He noted that Mwanza Region has been at the forefront of supporting government efforts in environmental conservation and management by encouraging communities to recognize the importance of environmental protection, including tree planting and cleanliness campaigns.
