DODOMA, June 22 -- TARIME Urban MP Esther Matiko has called for accelerated adoption of digital tax systems, saying they are key to expanding the countrys revenue base and closing gaps that enable tax evasion.

Speaking during the national budget session in Parliament today, Matiko said stronger digital infrastructure would improve transparency in financial transactions and make revenue collection more efficient and accountable.

She urged the government to fast-track the shift toward a cashless economy, arguing that reduced cash dependence would make it easier to trace transactions and curb corruption risks.
