DOHA, Sept. 29 -- TANZANIA has benefited from 6.7 million US dollars (equivalent to 17.73bn/-) in grants from the Multilateral Cooperation for Development Financing (MCDF) to prepare three strategic infrastructure projects since joining the fund as an observer in July 2025.

Finance Minister, Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar, said the grants are supporting preparation of the Tanzania-Malawi 400kV Power Interconnector, the Lower Songwe Hydropower Project and the TanzaniaBurundi Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), which are expected to strengthen regional connectivity and attract investment.
